Service charges

service charges imageSome of our properties may have a service charge.  This normally covers lighting and heating in communal areas, landscaping, maintenance of parking areas, door entry systems, lifts, fire alarms and equipment and other charges associated to the property or locality.  The service charge is usually reviewed annually and is payable in addition to your rent.

We will always consult you about service charges and let you know what the estimated expenditure will be each year.  If you feel that your service charge is unreasonable or you are not getting value for money, you can apply to a Leasehold Valuation Tribunal (part of the Residential Property Tribunal Service) for a decision on the reasonableness of the charges.

If you accept a property with Hundred Houses Society that has a service charge, a breakdown will be included in your Tenancy Agreement which lists everything it covers so that you know how the service charge is spent.  If you have any queries about this please call the office on 01223 315036.
